Jesus loves you.
I wanted to have those three words be the whole post this week, because it’s such a powerful sentence. But I also wanted to explain more of what’s been on my heart lately.
I get so caught up in the stresses and worries of life. I worry about the future and what is next. I worry about what people will think of me…even right now as I’m writing this, I’m worrying about what people will think of this post. 🙈 I worry that the things I struggle with on a daily basis won’t ever leave or get any better.
I forget who I am and Who’s I am. I forget Who created me. I forget what the Bible says in Romans 8:38-39. “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Earlier this summer I worked at a daycare for a couple months. One day, the other teachers and I were taking our classes out to the playground to play. As kids tend to do, one of them broke off from the line and started to walk wherever he wanted to. One of the other teachers had to gently lead him back to the group. In that situation, I realized that this is what God does with us. We wander off and do what we want to do. We think we have to be in perfect control, but we don’t even realize that there is a Father looking out for us, protecting us from things we can’t even see. He doesn’t condemn us when we mess up. He doesn’t force us to trust Him, but proves His faithfulness over and over in our lives so that we can know we have a reason to trust in Him.
John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus is speaking in this verse. He tells us that we will have tribulation. Other words for tribulation are affliction, distress, pain, hurt. So, when (not if) we have troubles in this world, whether it be other people hurting us or problems we bring upon ourselves by our sinful nature, there is Someone we can find rest and peace in.
There are always consequences for sin. God will deal with those who have sinned against us, and we will receive consequences for our own sins. But that will never change the fact that Jesus still loves us. On our best days and our worst days.
Do you know that Jesus loves you no matter what? If you struggle with knowing, like I do, let’s be in prayer this week. Let’s ask God to open our eyes to His love for us. He doesn’t have to prove it, because He already did on the cross. But He knows it’s much easier to believe something we can see versus something we can’t see. Let’s ask for faith to believe in His love and goodness towards us.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” - Hebrews 11:1
And if you don’t know who Jesus is or have a relationship with Him yet, I explained more about what He did for you here!
