His Name Is Jesus
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." ' Romans 5:8
"Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9
These verses show us that, one, we're sinners, but two, Jesus died for us to take away those sins. He knows we can't meet the perfect standard God has laid out for us in the Bible. He knows we could never give a big enough payment to God to pay for our sins. So, He came to earth and lived a perfect life. He became our perfect sacrifice on the cross. He conquered death, sin, and shame, and rising from the dead, He healed our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
God is holy, and because of the work Jesus did on the cross, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are holy in God's eyes too. Our part now, is to humble ourselves before God, tell Him that we realize we are sinners and that we believe that Jesus died and rose again for us. When we do that, He will put His Holy Spirit in us, who will guide us and teach us how to live, in a way that honors our Heavenly Father and is an example of how the Lord can change someone's heart and whole entire life.
And once we do that, everything might not change at once. In fact, it probably won't change all at once. In John 16:33, Jesus says that we will still have hard times on this earth, but we can have peace knowing that He conquered evil. We can have joy because He is walking with us each day.
And don't worry if things are confusing or take time to understand. Learning to live for and love God is something that will take our whole lives.
1
Pray
Tell God that you know you're a sinner. That you believe Jesus died and rose again, and want to live for Him alone now.
Welcome to the family of God!
2
Accept
Know that when you pray that prayer, you are forgiven. Jesus already made the payment, all you had to do is accept that payment and the gift of grace He has for you.
