The Pep Talk I Needed (And Maybe You Do Too)

This week’s post is a little different. It’s more a what-I-want-to-tell-myself post. And that’s because it’s just been one of those weeks. The kind of weeks that I feel heavy from the weight of living in a sinful world, where a start to doubt who I am and who I can be. This post was inspired by a short video I saw a few years ago, of a little girl telling the camera, telling us, words similar to the next three sentences.

You are Strong

You are Brave

You are Beautiful

Nothing anyone does or says to you can change these words that are just plain fact. And these are true because of Christ and because you are made in God’s image. Stand tall, sit up, walk with confidence. Know your worth and don’t allow other people’s attitudes toward you affect yours. Smile. Love others well. Respect, because YOU are respectful. Serve willingly, but not to be seen. Sacrifice your desires to put others above you. Your turn will come, and you’ll be thankful you didn’t exalt yourself only to fall down into pride. Trust your gut but be brave. Adventure and life and laughter are out there. Go find them. Trust in God and we’ll get through together. You don’t have to live life lonely because you lived for yourself. Breathe. Sing. Dance. The joy of the Lord lives inside you; let it SHINE!

Truth has to be shouted the loudest for the lies whispered steady in our ears.

So, what truth are you telling yourself? Or is it really truth? Could it be a lie you’ve believed for so long that you’re starting to believe is true?

If you wrote your own “pep talk” what would it look like? What do you need to remind yourself of? What do you want your life to look like? And what do you have to do to get there?

Whatever it is, write it down. Be honest, even if it hurts a little. We won't grow until we're honest about where we're at in life. And knowing who I can be and what my life could look like, gives me hope, especially if that life looks like Jesus' because I know my God will help me get there.

"17 Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." - 2 Corinthians 3:17 - 18

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Let me know how I can pray for you this week!
