A Sliver of Hope

The sole window is fogged up
It's dark and damp
The walls feel like they're closing in
And the longer I sit here, each minute seems go by slower and slower,
And the more stale the air becomes
I feel like I can barely breathe
Hours pass
I wonder if I've slipped out of consciousness or not
My eyes slowly move around the room
It's still damp
The air is still stale
And it's still just as dark
But, as I wearily move my eyes up to the window
I see, through the hazy glass, the moon in the night sky
It's not clear
It's not bright
And though barely, it's still visible
What is your moon? What is your sliver of hope that you hold on to as tightly as you can? I hope it's Jesus. He is the only reason I get through each day. Anything else we hold on to will eventually be stripped away from us. People will let us down. Jobs will be lost. Relationships broken. Fame/popularity doesn't last forever. Sickness comes. But do you know who remains the same forever? Jesus.
Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Which means His promises are the same yesterday, today, and forever.
When I look at the moon, I think of a moment when I needed peace and I needed hope. I think of how God met me in the moment, reassuring me that because of Him I did have hope. I was going to be ok. I don't know your individual struggles, but I know we all have them. Has God spoken to you in a specific verse of the Bible? Has He revealed a promise to you individually in a time of prayer? I remember things more easily when I have a visual reminder. Maybe you are the same way. Pick something, or ask God to show you something, that when you see it you remember that moment you had with God and the truth/promise He revealed to you. It could be a certain tree, or type of flower. It could be your favorite coffee shop, or even a specific model of car. But when you see it, remember that promise, and thank God for His faithfulness in your life.
Praying you have a blessed day in the Lord and that we all come to know Him as a Father who is personally involved in the smallest details of our lives. :)
