Lone Soldier

Lone soldier… He stands in a crowd of similar uniform. Yet he stands alone. From the outside it might seem as if he’s the same as those around, but the war he fights is not the same. The way he fights is not the same. Some days loneliness overtakes him. Some days he wants to quit and give up. And some days he does. He falls to his knees, hands bound. Fear, embarrassment, compromise chain him. He’s too weak, too numb, too broken to fight back. He looks around and the last ounce of hope leaves him. A single tear falls down his face. “It’s over,” he barely whispers to himself. But it’s not truly over until he gets to go home. There is still more ground to be won, more children to be freed. So, he looks to the sky, hands raised and the shackles fall to the ground at his feet. He slowly rises and stands tall, stands strong. “It isn’t over,” he says, this time louder. “I know how the story ends. This war has been won, and my king is still on his throne.”
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” - 2 Corinthians 4:8-11
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” - James 1:12
"For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do." - Hebrews 6:10
Praying for you all! Don't give up. Keep fighting the good fight. God sees you even when you feel alone.
I needed to “hear” this message today. Thank you.
