Gentle and Kind Pt. 2

Updated: Feb 15

I’m guessing we’ve all seen it. A little boy or girl, their little feet swallowed up in their mom or dad’s shoes, trying to cross the room without falling over. They want to be like their parents because they look up to (literally and figuratively 😉) and love them. Yet they don’t see the hardships, the trials, what it’s like to be them day in a day out.

What if, when we stepped into someone else’s shoes, we could literally see and feel what it was like to be them for even one minute. How would our view towards them change? Would we see them less as someone to compete with and more as another lonely heart who needs some compassion and love and attention?

I think we would. It helps me to imagine what’s going on in someone else’s mind when I’m having a difficulty/miscommunication with them. Are they sad about something, worried, hurt, or even just needing some food?

Imagining this helps me get my mind off of myself and on to how I can serve or bless the other person. It’s a lonely world out there. And it gets a little more lonely when we forget we’re interacting with God’s most precious creation, and respond to each other with anger or frustration.

The good news is, with the Holy Spirit in us, we can be a light to the world. We can turn frowns upside-down. We can be a part of healing someone else’s heart. 🤍

I appreciate this reminder that we are here for others. When we ask God, He will give us his perspective on the precious ones he places in our path, looking out for their interests. God, help me to think of others as you do.
