Being Still

The world runs at a million miles a hour. Thoughts race. To-do lists stare me down. Sometimes it feels like I’m barely holding onto the rope and slowly sinking down into the watery depths.

But there is a light. There is hope. There is a rock. There is Someone who has promised to never leave.

So, I sit still. I cry a few tears and take a few shaky breaths. I think about my fears and my worries. And then I rest in Him.

He has brought me this far and told me that He finishes what He starts. So, He isn’t done with me yet.

He takes my hand and pulls me up from the puddle of tears I’ve made.

He holds me close and tells me it’s all going to be ok.

He reminds me that, even though death has been conquered once for all, on this side of Heaven, pain will still be felt, fears will come, tears will be shed.

But He gently reminds me that in Him, I have peace. In Him, I can stand tall and face whatever comes. In Him, anything is possible. With Him, I don’t have to fear.

I’ve seen how He has grown me and pushed me. It’s been painful sometimes, scary other times. But I’ve seen His faithful hand over my life. I’ve seen that He hasn’t given up on me. And I know He won’t give up on you either.

Whatever today holds, whatever mountains we’re facing, let’s let God meet us here. He won’t force His way in, but He is waiting for us. Let’s welcome Him into the good times and the hard times.

He will comfort us. He will guide us. He will be our strength when we feel too weak to stand. He will be our light when the tunnel seems like it will never end.
